Biography

Shuva Das is a songwriter, Indian classical singer and guitarist from Croydon, UK.  She writes alternative, melodic rock with influences of grunge, heavy rock and Indian music.  Her lyrics are profound, spiritual and thought-provoking.  Shuva is releasing her debut album "Out From the Shadows", which has been produced by reputable blues guitarist and producer, Tony Patience.

Shuva learned Indian Classical singing from her mother, Swapna Das.  She later learned from Pandits Rajan and Sajan Mishra, two of India's most prestigious Indian Classical vocalists.  Most recently, Shuva has begun to explore the meditative style of Dhrupad under the tutelage of Pandit Uday Bhawalkar.   Some of Shuva's career highlights include her performance at Fairfield Halls, Croydon and a solo recital of Indian Classical singing at the Nehru Centre, London.

Shuva was influenced by her two elder brothers, who were big fans of classic rock.  As a result, she took up guitar at the age of thirteen and it has always been her dream to become a rock musician.  Her unique blend of Indian and rock influences have allowed her to develop a signature style of songwriting and a unique voice.

Shuva further pursued her childhood dream of becoming a rock guitarist by studying guitar at the very prestigious Academy of Contemporary Music (ACM) in Guildford.  A landmark moment during Shuva’s time at ACM was her jam with world-renowned guitar legend, Steve Vai,

Shuva successfully released her album on Friday 5th October 2018 and held her album launch party at the Spice of Life in Soho.  Shuva is currently preparing for gigs and radio appearances (please see events page for more info).  Please do sign up to her mailing list to keep up-to-date with what Shuva is up to.
